After I was laid-off from a previous employer, a friend and I decided to create a website related to something we were both involved in, the sport of triathlon. We decided that in order to finance our own website, we would create a few sites for others. The first four businesses we approached with the idea hired us. We quickly decided that designing websites for others looked to be the more promising direction.

So, with little training, little money and a lot of resolve, we forged ahead. Less than a year later, my partner, a chemical engineering PhD candidate at the time, decided he needed to focus on his studies and pursue a career in the field that he had spent the better part of his life studying. (He is now a University of Louisville professor).

Suddenly flying solo, I was excited at the prospect of doing something totally new and unrelated to any previous job. I tried to learn as much as I could about design and business. Fortunately I had some good influences and experiences early on, which have helped shape the direction of my designs and how I relate to my clients.

company philosophy

I would like to think that my designs are one of the ways that I am able to distinguish my business from others. Interon Design operates under these guiding principles:

Too often the bells and whistles of the site design get in the way of the message. Visitors won't care about the dazzling design if the site takes too long to download, or they can't find the information they are looking for.

The second distinction is our emphasis on customer service. Early on in my dealings with potential clients I began hearing the recurring refrain "I am unhappy with my current web manager because I can never get him to call me back". For some reason, customer service does not seem to be a priority in this industry. Coming from a service related background, good, prompt customer service was a no-brainer.

I guess we are doing something right, because those original four clients are still with us, as well as local Louisville and regional industry leaders, members of the Louisville "Fast 50" list (as ranked by Business First ) and other local businesses.
